Volunteer and Mentoring Opportunities

Golden Flashes support each other and their communities around the world by volunteering.

Whether you’re mentoring current students, serving on an alumni board or helping reduce food waste and promote food security, Kent State provides volunteer opportunities that fit our alumni's strongest passions. Our largest annual volunteer event, Flashes Give Back Week event, is held each spring, but Kent State is accepting volunteers year-round.

Mentoring

As our current students prepare for their next step, it helps to hear from alumni who have made it across the graduation stage and embarked on successful careers. Flashes Connect is a resource for alumni and current students, enabling Golden Flashes to connect with each other, seek advice, provide professional development tips and build your professional network.

We currently have mentoring groups established through our Fashion Alumni Chapter, Black Alumni Chapter and LGBTQ+ Alumni Chapter. All students and alumni are welcome to participate, and we will continue to add groups. If you are interested in starting a mentoring group, please reach out to alumni@kent.edu

Ben Curtis Family Foundation

The mission of the Ben Curtis Family Foundation is to help alleviate childhood hunger. Our Birdie Bag Program, a weekend feeding program for children, helps drive its mission. Volunteers will pack Birdie Bags of food for local elementary, middle and high school students, helping ensure they have the fuel they need to be successful at school and at home.
