Steps you need to complete to use your GI Bill® benefits
If you haven’t already received a Certificate of Eligibility from VA, Activate your benefits. Additional information about eligibility can be found by reading the GI Bill® website or by contacting the Veterans Administration at 1-888-442-4551 (1-888-GIBILL1)
- After applying for benefits this step can take up to 8 weeks for the VA to process so it is important to begin as early as possible.
- Apply for admission to Kent State University.
- Complete the FAFSA form
- Submit the following to the campus POC (Point of Contact):
- Chapter 33 - Post 9/11 benefits
- Copy of DD 214
- All other chapters (30-13-35)
- Copy of DD 214
- Certificate of Eligibility.
- Kicker contracts, if any.
Once you are registered for classes you must complete the IOE (Intent of Enrollment) which confirms you wish to use your benefits in the upcoming semester.
