    Biography

    Jeanne Smith is the Director of the Writing Commons and an Associate Lecturer in the Department of English.  She teaches College Writing I and II, Introduction to Technical Writing, Principles of Technical Writing, Advanced Business and Professional Writing, Argumentative Prose, Expository Prose, as well as other writing courses and tutor-training courses. She has been working in the Commons for 12 years, and teaching writing for 34 years. She coordinates service learning experiences, writing center-related internships, individual investigations, and directs composition-related Honors Theses. She is the past president of the East Central Writing Centers Association and co-founder of the Northeast Ohio Writing Centers Association. She graduated from Binghamton University with a degree in English concentrating on rhetoric and composition. Her research interests include writing centers, reflective practice, collaborative learning, and pedagogy. She is currently studying writer metacognition and self-regulation in revision as well as diversity issues in writing centers and community collaboration. She serves on the University Teaching Council and the Writing Program Committee.
