Kristenne Robison
Biography
Dr. Robison started volunteering in prison in 2010 when she taught a sociology course in a women’s prison in Pennsylvania. Since then, she has championed the importance of higher education being accessible on the inside of prison walls. More recently she got involved in prison reentry with the Bureau of Justice Assistance’s reentry grant awarded to Kent State University.
Position
Dr. Robison is an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology on the Salem campus. In addition, she leads the prison education program at Kent State University and serves on the prison reentry team.
Experience
Dr. Robison entered higher education in 1992 and never left. She has held multiple roles in higher education including collegiate head coach, adjunct instructor, and tenured professor. The one thread through all of this is her focus on social justice and belief that education is a great equalizer.
