    Biography

    Biography
I am a Ph.D. student and Research Assistant at Kent State University. As a sociologist I am interested in mental health and deviance, stigma and labeling processes, and understanding the life course perspective of those with substance use disorders.

My master’s thesis examined the ways in which communication with healthcare providers impacts caregiver depression and bereavement. I presented my findings at the 2024 North Central Sociological Association conferences. From a pedagogical stance I am passionate about teaching and student-facing work, as well as facilitating critical thinking in the classroom. Outside of academia I enjoy hiking and walking with my dog, camping, thrift shopping, and going to concerts.
