    Dr. Jeffrey S. Hallam is a distinguished public health scholar and leader with over 30 years of experience in health promotion and behavior change. He is Professor in the College of Public Health and Health Sciences at Kent State University, where he serves as Senior Associate Dean for Research and Global Affairs. He also directs the university-wide Healthy Communities Research Institute and is Executive Director of the Health, Education and Business Research Hub.

    At Kent State he previously served as Department Chair of Social and Behavioral Sciences, Interim Associate Dean for Research, Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Studies, and Associate Dean for Research and Global Affairs, and as Co-Director of the Healthy Communities Research Institute.

    His research emphasizes theory-based interventions to promote health behaviors, especially physical activity; community-based participatory research; the impact of the built environment and policy on health; and the development and validation of measurement tools for theoretical concepts. Dr. Hallam has published extensively in leading public health journals and obtained significant extramural funding from organizations such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

    He is a Certified Public Health professional (CPH), a Fellow of the Royal Society for Public Health (FRSPH), and a past President of the American Academy of Health Behavior. He has served on the Executive Board of the American Public Health Association. Dr. Hallam is dedicated to mentorship, community engagement, and global public health initiatives, including international collaborations and visiting scholar roles. He earned his PhD in Health Promotion and Education from The Ohio State University. Through his research, teaching, and leadership, Dr. Hallam promotes evidence-based strategies to develop healthier communities both locally and globally.
