Six journalism students from the School of Media and Journalism were honored at the Akron Press Club's scholarship luncheon on April 25, 2025 at Greystone Hall in downtown Akron. Each of the students received a scholarship of $5,000.

"These students are proof that our future is in good hands," said the president of the Akron Press Club and the John S. Knight Memorial Journalism Fund, Bruce Winges. He went on to thank the students' parents, teachers and mentors for their guidance.

Broadcast journalism is a competitive world. But Kent State University's Sydney Brown, ’26, is already making her mark. The third-year journalism student from Avon, Ohio, has racked up an impressive array of achievements and awards.

This spring, Kent State Student Media and TeleProductions welcomed a group of students from Cleveland Heights High School for an immersive, behind-the-scenes visit designed to inspire the next generation of media professionals.
