Dr. Uma S. Krishnan is a professor at Kent State University. She heads the Writing Internship Program and also serves as the Associate Writing Program Coordinator in the Department of English. She is also an honorary faculty, Religion Studies-Minor Program. In addition to her academic work, she is the faculty advisor for the May 4 Task Force (M4TF) Student Organization, and serves as Assistant Co-chair Global/Non-Western, College of Composition and Communication Standing Group.

Dr. Krishnan teaches many different courses from basic to advanced Composition Courses, Professional Writing, Editing and Publishing, Honors Colloquium, Global Rhetoric, South Asian Studies, Ethnic and Indigenous Literacy Practices, Indian Literature, Nyaya Logic, to Hindi Language. Her thirst for learning and knowledge building, her varied research interests, and her approach to teaching and sharing information has won her many laurels.  She has presented many papers on literacy, composition studies, language acquisition, world English, women and gender in Hinduism, Nyaya Sutra (Eastern) and Western rhetoric, ethnic literacy and social practices at various national and international conferences and universities. She has published her work by contributing articles to journals and books. She is currently working on publishing her book, which is based on her ethnographic case study of the Mumbai Dabbawalas, India.
