Biography

Lauren Vogel uses a critical literacy lens to inform her teaching and research. Her current pedagogical interests use adult crossover literature to promote literacy, generate inquiry, foster empathy and add to our global funds of knowledge. She endorses a multilayered, multivoiced writing style which incorporates research, lived experiences, and imagination. She has published and/or presented on topics concerning adult reading literacy and fluency, crossover literature as well as teacher hegemony and the need for practitioners to expand their ways of knowing and teaching beyond the current cannon of thought and practice. Her current research investigates how practitioners can disrupt the hegemonized, status-quo to promote fair and more just teaching practices through the self-study methodology.

She is the winner of Equity, Inclusion, & Success Award from Kent State University & a nominee Of The Month Award for the National Residence Hall Honorary organization.
