Suat Gunhan, Ph.D., M.ASCE
Biography
Dr. Gunhan received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a Construction Engineering and Management specialization from the Illinois Institute of Technology. He is a construction management scholar and educator with academic administration and industry experience. He previously served as the Associate Dean for both Academic Affairs and Research in the College of Architecture, Construction, and Planning at the University of Texas at San Antonio. His papers appeared in many American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) journals such as the Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, Journal of Management in Engineering, Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice, Practice Periodical in Structural Design and Construction, and Journal of Architectural Engineering. He also published and presented peer-reviewed conference proceedings papers in national and international conferences extensively. His publication topics include international construction, sustainable building project delivery process, leadership in construction, pre-construction, and construction management pedagogy. His practical experience includes many aspects of project management in a large construction corporation operating in the Chicago construction industry. He has taught project management, estimating, capstone project, construction materials and methods, advanced construction management, construction practice in a global setting, and special studies in civil engineering (study abroad), sustainable design and construction and technical studio courses at the University of Texas at San Antonio, and Izmir University of Economics.
